The brief

Paper bills pile up and the numbers that matter end up in a spreadsheet by hand. For one admin, the tool must be fast on a phone, never silently trust OCR, and keep every original image private.

How we built it

A React front end and an Express API on Postgres. Local Tesseract.js OCR reads the bill; an optional cloud model steps in only when confidence is low. Every extracted field is shown for review before saving, and totals that do not add up are flagged. Sign-in uses server-side sessions, argon2id and optional two-factor.

What is in it

  • Camera scan or file upload, with local OCR by default
  • Review-before-save screen with total mismatch flags
  • Search and filters, dashboard and CSV or JSON export
  • Private storage with no public image URLs
  • Sessions, two-factor, audit log and backups in settings
